Trump's Granddaughter Gets Expert Guidance from Tiger Woods Prior to LPGA Debut
This young athlete boasts considerable social media audience
Kai Trump will have multiple high-profile supporters when she starts her first LPGA appearance on Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be related to Donald Trump, obtained a sponsor's invitation to compete at the Annika tournament in Florida.
The former president, an avid golfer, owns numerous courses worldwide and regularly plays against his granddaughter.
"He's quite skilled. I shouldn't elaborate but we have tight competitions," she stated.
Kai explained that Trump, who cannot attend, counseled her: "Simply stay calm."
"He essentially told me to compete and enjoy myself," she continued.
"From my perspective, he's simply an ordinary family member. He's not attending this weekend. He's busy with running the country, so he's rather occupied."
While still amateur, Kai has competed in only three events in 2024 and has position 461 in AJGA rankings.
But she's able to get advice from Tiger Woods, romantically involved with Kai's mother.
"He represents the top athlete globally," the young golfer said.
"Additionally, he's an even better individual. He suggested me to go out there, have fun, adapting to the flow."
Kai will face multiple the biggest names in women's golf at the Annika, such as world number two the champion, British Charley Hull, professional Thompson and last year's winner Lilia Vu.
Officials commented that involving Kai brings golf to new audiences, especially reaching youth audiences.
The young star has millions of followers and just introduced her own apparel and wellness company.
The competition starts at late afternoon GMT.
