Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was expected for questions to be raised about his future following a further convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received significant support from management,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to turn it around and secure a win of course but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I feel the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over known failings from his team in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell like this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to where it needs to be, prove again what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
